randomizing my vacation part1

as you might have understood from the previous post, eventhough Paris has not been a daily joy, it was captivating, thrilling, sometimes demotivating but always epic ... so, to say nothing further for now, I will let images speak..I appear in most of them (~blushing~ -- yet this is not really my fault/ego/etc, my bf really likes to take pictures of me:P), and since it's a personal style blog , they fit the profile ( :D ), but some more can be viewed here .most of them are taken by my bf, but I squeezed some of mine in :):).

The top image was taken in the gardens of the Royal Palace, where we stopped for a bit of shade in our last day in Paris....

the left one is taken somewhere near Champs Elysees, we found this huge skull while trying to find our way avoiding the Tour-de-France all-over-the-place-fences, and I couldn't resist having my pic taken with it, since I'm a sucker for skulls (given my metal-music up-growth and all:D )

the right one is taken in the courtyard of St. Marie Magdalene's church (La Madeleine) , a church which I found to my liking eventhough I am not a religious person at all. i usually visit churches for a pure educational/aesthetic scope, to analyze its architecture & history, but this one really speaks out inovatively about its view of faith vs. religion...in an artistic way.. it houses beautiful contemporary art exhibitions, inside , outside, and bellow , really interesting pieces, which may disagree with the 'old-school' christians' opinions , but are definitely a means to turn visitors into followers... my favourite item was the human-fish, a gigantic sculpture in a 'double- edition' , one inside the church and one outside...what better a symbol for christianity...?

Wearing :
Shirt: almost as old as me:D
Random light blue tank
Jeans: See by Chloe (from the sale batch mentioned here)
Bag: GAP (from Paris)
Boots: Formenterra
Sunglasses: from a souvenir shop near Centre Pompidou
Earrings: from my bf

back from vacation....yeeeyy

...I've been back from my vacation for a week now, but since probably some of you ( I think) may want to read comments, opinions and all, I thought I'd just let everything sink in for a while longer :).

so...I'll start with the conclusion:D , which is that Paris is definitely a city you can't be indifferent to. what you hate about it, you hate from all your guts, and what you love about it, you do just as much...
I thought about making a list with ups and downs of Paris, but I changed my mind , since the expectations, impressions, perceptions are purely subjective, and I don't want to push anybody away from visiting Paris, cause it is really worth seeing (duuuh :)) ).

but my bottom line is that I was really disappointed with it ( and I will have to apologize in advance for any Parisian who happens to read my blog... although, on second thought,I don't really have a reason to do so, I'm just calling it as I saw it ) ; I would have expected that living in such a city, where you can serve art for breakfast and history for drinks , people would be more educated, less rude, etc...well? guess what....it was a reaaaaaaaaaally far-fetched assumption... starting with little things, like the locals not knowing that the ashtray in front of them is not purposeless , to the overall dirt , filth and infectious smell of the city....sorry guys, but this is how it is... the fact is that I have been told by many people that Paris is not what one would expect, but my power of denial worked like a charm until seeing it with my own eyes....

however, I don't wanna be a hypocrite and claim that this is all there is to Paris...not by far...I mean the amount of culture you ingurgitate here , the feast of eyes and enlightenment of mind Paris has to offer is probably unrivaled. and it did wash away the bitter taste of the other aspects, but I can honestly say I will never return to this city.

p.s. follow-ups of this post are about to come, outfit photos & all :D

hungarian musical Friday

Between the RATM-ish & the hypnotic music samples from today, I just want to let you know that I am happy happy happy:D:D:D:D:D:D....I am leaving for Paris in less than 2 days :D:D:D...plus I got a batch of sale designer goodies (which I will follow up on with some outfit posts) ...plus I just received this huge set of bangles I ordered from ShoesAndYourMom a while ago...they actually are a lot more than seen in the pic ( I counted them...50 bangles, the thin ones compose 8 different sets :D...for a mere 10$;pretty good deal, right?)....

so....hurray for me :)))) :P

Back to today's entry, I decided to make at least one post a month on our neighbours' music . And I am starting out with Hungary, since these bands are amongst my personal favourites anyways.

I can tell you about Subscribe that they are a very lively bunch, we've had a night out in Fire club some 2 years ago here in Bucharest, many Jägermeisters and all...the best time ( I think I still owe them some shots, or the other way around :)) ) , plus they are great in their live performances , so if you're into hardcore & stuff they're definitely worth your while. They also have a side project , called the Guilty Parties , a tribute to Rage Against The Machine , which they were supposed to end when/if RATM would ever re-unite, but I don't think they expected that RATM actually do so:D.

As for Colorstar, I do not have extremely relevant information to share with you for the moment, but I think their music speaks for itself (also emphasized by the fact that there is no actual video for this tune:D:D:D).

The next post will be on some Serbian classics, but I will not divulge the bands until the due time :D:D

may I have your vote, please :D?

I just entered this contest on an online Romanian youth magazine (well, I'm not that young, but I like the prize ;)) ), where you have to pick a random 'VIP' outfit and describe why you like/resent it. The winner gets a beautiful Diana Bobar Design dress , at choice out of 6 models. The one I fancy can be viewed here .
So I am asking for your vote in helping me win it :D:D, and since the 'article' is in Romanian, I will translate it here for the foreign visitors:).

I chose the outfit Rihanna sported at "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion" opening gala, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, for one reason only: I did not like it whatsoever.
(Well, and honestly, for the fact that it seems more difficult to argumentatively criticize rather than praise something).
And here is the translation:

"I will decompose this outfit into 3 main parts, individual not necessarily by style, but rather by how they (de)form Rihanna' s silhouette.

1.The Shoes + Cropped Pants , taken separately , probably represent the only section of this garment t
hat has been somewhat favourably thought out: the length of the pants together with the cut of the shoe elongate her legs and add a femininity tint to the ensemble.

2. The Jacket + Bow Tie ...now here's where the visual disaster starts happening : the miss seems to have lost her head amongst the over-dimensioned shoulders, the only thing actually keeping her head on her shoulders being her similarly dimensioned..hair-do.

3. The Gloves: hidden by the jacket's sleeves, this biker-style accessory loses any aesthetic attribute within this costume;it is neither emphasized by any other component of this garment, neither does it enhance it's general aspect in any way. It does nothing but create confusion around the sleeves: where does the jacket end/where do the gloves start?

Probably Rihanna tried to point her costume to the 80's, using the immense shoulders, the tom-boy hair, the short leather gloves, and the over-all 'shiny' aspect of the outfit....but what this shape turned out to be seems rather similar to an undefined clothing object hanging out to dry by its shoulders, with visibly shrunken pants.

It is obvious that the jacket was supposed to be the key element , but unfortunately its exquisite cut is lost in the all-black 'colourfullness'
of this garment. I for one would leave the bow-tie & white shirt aside, add a white t-shirt instead, with the cleavage going no further down than a palm bellow the neckline, and some light coloured skinny acid-wash jeans (anything but white- maybe even a dust-pink hue) ; I would keep the shoes & the gloves (!!!-what can I do? I like them ...), but I would roll up the sleeves of the jacket to solve the dilemma at no.3 ...and I would also keep the hair-do... all in all I think it would look much more laid-back and 'fashion-forward'."

Soooo...if you like it or agree with my opinion on this, you can place a vote here. Although it is stated otherwise in the contest's page, you do not have to be logged in to vote, so....wish me luck:D:D:, and thank you very much in advance :D:D.

The Red... it filters through

(pour les connaisseurs ;) ...for the others, it's Chevelle.. :D )

This post is dedicated to my sister, who made my earrings , and also gave me the tank I am wearing :D. I always like to pair these items, part because of the colour combo and part for the fact that both have animals on them (punky-haired sheep on the earrings + penguins on- the -top ).

Composition:
Tank: from my sis
Earrings:made by my sis
Shirt: Polo Garage (on loan from bf)
Pants: Dadamoda
Shoes: Musette
Other jewelry: my beloved Swatch+ some random silver chain tied around the wrist
Sunglasses: Piazza Italia (gift from bf)

patchwork vest outfit #4

To not let you wait too long till I sort out my wardrobe, I am posting one of this week's outfits, which my colleagues at work really enjoyed :D. Again, with my vest from Dulapul Bunicii, which has become my momentary fetish. It just improves any outfit it is added to...and it's getting toooooo warm to keep wearing it ...sigh...

Composition:
Vest: Blue Steel (from Dulapul Bunicii)
Oriental shirt: Anokhi (from a little shop downtown)
Jeans: Woox
Flats: Miss Me (from somewhere in New York)
Necklace+Earrings: handcrafted, a gift from somebody I haven't seen in a while...

BACK

I know, I know ...I've not been around lately :D, and I do not want to excuse myself, buuuuuuuuuuuut...I did take some time off to catch up with my reading, documenting, etc - so I've not had anything to do with fashion lately except for picking out my daily outfits :).
Plus ...I am in the middle of a closet re-shaping & organizing , as I have to pick out my garments for the coming Paris vacation....which gets me to the news... I am leaving for Paris in 1 week ...YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I will make up for the lack of posting since, while I am at browsing through my wardrobe, I want to experiment some new combinations...not necessarily summery, but the weather in Paris can be really whimsical, I am told :D. So stay tuned:D.
